Pay Per Click Search EnginesSome search engines offer the option of paying for link placement. You pay for specific keywords and when those keywords a user searches for those keywords, your site will get automatic placement over non-paying sites. However, there is still competition among paying sites. With only so many keywords available, there is a lot of overlap between sites. Therefore, a bidding process is used whereby you set a specific amount per click you are willing to pay (i.e. 50 cents). If someone outbids you, they will end up with a higher search ranking. Depending on the keywords chosen, this process can become costly. The return on the visitors to your site and the cost of the bid for the keywords must be carefully considered. The real advantage of using the pay per click method is that you can target specific keywords and only pay for those visitors that actually click on your link. The traffic achieved via this method will be highly relevant to your site. |
